- Black pepper - to taste
- Lemon wedges - for serving
Steps
- Thoroughly clean the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells and removing any beards.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
- Add the chopped shallots and minced garlic to the pot, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels open up.
- Once cooked, discard any mussels that remain closed.
- Stir in the chopped parsley and season with black pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
