Ingredients

  • Ground beef (kosher) - 250 grams
  • Merguez spice mix (cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne) - 2 teaspoons
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Harissa paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Pickled vegetables (carrots, cucumbers) - 50 grams

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, merguez spice mix, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked through and nicely browned.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the harissa mayo by mixing the harissa paste and mayonnaise in a small bowl.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading the harissa mayo on the bottom half of each bun, placing the cooked patty on top, and adding pickled vegetables.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
