Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef (preferably grass-fed)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large lettuce leaves (for wrapping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, then cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are caramelized and golden brown.
  2. Add the balsamic vinegar and thyme to the onions, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form the beef into 2 equal-sized patties.
  4. In the same skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  5. To assemble the burgers, place a beef patty on a lettuce leaf, top with caramelized onions, and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and serve immediately.
