Ingredients

  • puff pastry - 200 grams
  • goat cheese - 100 grams
  • fresh basil - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • fresh chives - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • olive oil - 2 teaspoons
  • garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • black pepper - to taste
  • salt - to taste
  • egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Preheat the BBQ or oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3 mm thick.
  3. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the goat cheese, chopped basil, chives, thyme, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  5. Spread the goat cheese mixture evenly over the center of each pastry square, leaving a border of about 1 cm.
  6. Fold the edges of the pastry squares slightly over the filling to create a border.
  7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the BBQ or oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the BBQ or oven and let cool slightly before serving.
