Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams
  • Heavy cream - 200 ml
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Gruyère cheese - 100 grams, grated
  • Emmental cheese - 100 grams, grated
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly (about 3 mm thick) using a mandoline or a sharp knife.
  3. In a bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Grease a baking dish with olive oil and start layering half of the potato slices at the bottom.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the Gruyère and Emmental cheese on top.
  6. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes.
  8. After 40 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
