- Mushrooms (button or shiitake) - 200 grams, chopped
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Butter - 30 grams
- Heavy cream - 150 ml
- Gruyère cheese - 100 grams, grated
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Breadcrumbs - 30 grams
- Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Nutmeg - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the shallots and garlic until translucent.
- Add the chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and mix in the grated Gruyère cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese until well combined.
- Transfer the mushroom mixture into two small gratin dishes or ramekins.
- In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, the remaining Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the mushroom filling in the gratin dishes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
