Ingredients

  • Carrots - 400 grams, peeled and sliced
  • Heavy cream - 150 ml
  • Grated Gruyère cheese - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Butter - 20 grams, for greasing
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a small baking dish with butter.
  2. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add the sliced carrots. Cook for 5-7 minutes until just tender, then drain and set aside.
  3. In the same saucepan, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Heat gently until warmed through but not boiling.
  4. Layer half of the cooked carrots in the prepared baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with half of the grated Gruyère cheese.
  5. Repeat with the remaining carrots, cream mixture, and cheese to create a second layer.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley. Serve warm.
