  • Milk - 300 ml
  • Gruyère cheese, grated - 100 grams
  • Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Nutmeg, grated - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Breadcrumbs - 30 grams

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in 75 grams of Gruyère cheese, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper until melted and smooth.
  7. In a baking dish, combine the blanched broccoli and cheese sauce, mixing well to coat the broccoli evenly.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining Gruyère cheese and Parmesan cheese on top, followed by the breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
