Ingredients
- Potatoes - 400 grams (about 2 medium potatoes)
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
Steps
- Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, thyme, salt, black pepper, and flour. Mix until well combined.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, add the potato mixture to the skillet, pressing it down to form a circular patty about 1.5 cm thick. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the galette using a large plate or spatula, adding the remaining olive oil if necessary. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the second side is also golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the galette from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing into wedges. Serve warm.
