  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Cold water - 100 ml
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) - 500 ml
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Tartar sauce - for dipping

Steps

  1. Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg and gradually add cold water, mixing well.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients to create a smooth batter.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  6. Dip each piece of fish into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then carefully place them into the hot oil.
  7. Fry the fish pieces in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the fritures with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce for dipping.
