Ingredients

  • polenta - 200 grams
  • vegetable broth - 500 ml
  • smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • salt - 1 teaspoon
  • black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • BBQ sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, bring the vegetable broth to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Gradually whisk in the polenta, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, for about 15 minutes until the polenta thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and spread the polenta evenly into a greased baking dish, about 1 cm thick. Let it cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or until set.
  5. Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
  6. Once set, cut the polenta into fries or sticks.
  7. Toss the polenta fries in olive oil and arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  9. Serve hot with BBQ sauce for dipping.
