Ingredients

  • White fish fillet (e.g., cod or sole) - 300 grams
  • Fresh lime juice - 60 ml
  • Fresh lemon juice - 30 ml
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely diced
  • Cherry tomatoes - 100 grams, quartered
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Fresh cilantro - 15 grams, chopped
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Avocado - 1 medium, diced (for serving)

Steps

  1. Cut the white fish fillet into small, bite-sized cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the fresh lime juice and lemon juice over the fish, ensuring it is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes until the fish is opaque and 'cooked' by the citrus.
  3. While the fish is marinating, prepare the vegetables: finely dice the red onion, quarter the cherry tomatoes, and dice the cucumber.
  4. Once the fish is ready, drain excess citrus juice and gently mix in the diced red onion, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and chopped cilantro.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil over the mixture and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix gently to combine.
  6. Serve the ceviche de bar in bowls, topped with diced avocado and additional cilantro if desired.
