- Almond milk - 250 ml
- All-purpose flour - 100 g
- Brown sugar - 80 g
- Maple syrup - 30 g
- Cornstarch - 20 g
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Rum - 1 tablespoon
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Coconut oil (melted) - 30 g
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F) and grease the canelé molds with coconut oil.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the almond milk, brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth and lump-free.
- Add the melted coconut oil and rum to the batter, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the prepared canelé molds, filling them about 3/4 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes or until the canelés are dark brown and slightly puffed.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool in the molds for 10 minutes before gently removing them.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, enjoying the crispy exterior and soft interior.
