Ingredients

  • Almond flour - 100 grams
  • Powdered sugar - 100 grams
  • Milk - 200 ml
  • Eggs - 2 large
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Butter - 50 grams
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease your canelé molds with melted butter.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter over low heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm, then remove from heat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the almond flour, powdered sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Slowly add the warm milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking continuously to prevent cooking the eggs.
  6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared canelé molds, filling them about 3/4 full.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until the canelés have risen and are deep golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool in the molds for about 10 minutes before carefully removing them.
  10. Allow the canelés to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
