- Céleri rave (celery root) - 300 grams
- Heavy cream - 100 ml
- Grated Gruyère cheese - 100 grams
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
- Nutmeg - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Butter - 10 grams, for greasing
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel the céleri rave and slice it thinly using a mandoline or a sharp knife.
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, chopped thyme, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper. Heat gently until warm but not boiling.
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced céleri rave. Pour half of the cream mixture over the top, then sprinkle with half of the grated Gruyère cheese.
- Repeat with the remaining céleri rave, cream mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese on top.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
