Ingredients
- Ground beef (kosher) - 500 grams
- Burgundy red wine - 120 ml
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Mushrooms (cremini or button) - 200 grams, sliced
- Dijon mustard - 2 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Burger buns (kosher) - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1, sliced
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Burgundy wine, shallots, garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 2 equal patties, about 2 cm thick. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to firm up.
- While the patties chill, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together Dijon mustard and mayonnaise to create the sauce.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness is reached.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers: spread the Dijon mayonnaise on the bottom half of the bun, add a lettuce leaf, place the cooked patty on top, add sautéed mushrooms, and top with tomato slices. Finish with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite side.
