Ingredients

  • 300g ground beef (80/20)
  • 50ml Burgundy red wine
  • 1 clove garlic - minced
  • 1 small shallot - finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme - chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary - chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • 2 brioche burger buns
  • 50g Gruyère cheese - sliced
  • 50g arugula
  • 4 slices crispy bacon
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Burgundy red wine, minced garlic, shallot, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal patties, about 2.5 cm thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium rare, or until your desired doneness.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Gruyère cheese on each patty and cover to melt.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the brioche buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by spreading Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on the bottom bun, followed by the patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, and a handful of arugula. Top with the other half of the bun.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Burgundy Beef Burgers!
