Ingredients
- Ground beef (kosher) - 300 grams
- Brioche buns - 2 pieces
- Gruyère cheese - 50 grams
- Shallot - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Mixed greens - 50 grams
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Cornichons - 4 pieces, sliced
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with chopped shallot, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 2 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium rare, or longer if desired.
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Gruyère cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- While the burgers are cooking, butter the brioche buns and toast them in a separate pan until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patty on the bottom half of the bun, adding a few slices of tomato, cornichons, and a handful of mixed greens. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of side, such as fries or a salad.
