Ingredients

  • Seitan - 200g
  • Breadcrumbs - 50g
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Ground black pepper - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Pickles - 2 slices

Steps

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  2. In a bowl, crumble the seitan into small pieces and mix in breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into two burger patties.
  4. Cook the patties in the skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the same skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Spread vegan mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun, followed by mustard.
  7. Place a lettuce leaf on each bun, add the cooked seitan patty, top with sliced tomato and pickles, and finish with the top half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
