Ingredients

  • Ground pork - 300 grams
  • Granny Smith apple - 1 medium, grated
  • Shallot - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Mixed salad greens - 50 grams
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, grated apple, chopped shallot, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal patties, making them slightly larger than the burger buns.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice golden crust.
  4. While the patties are cooking, toast the whole grain burger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler until lightly browned.
  5. Assemble the burgers by spreading mustard on the bottom half of each bun, adding a pork patty, and topping with mixed salad greens.
  6. Place the top half of the bun on each burger and serve immediately with additional apple slices, if desired.
