Ingredients

  • Sweet potato - 200 grams
  • Chickpeas - 100 grams (cooked)
  • Oats - 50 grams
  • Red onion - 1 small (finely chopped)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Avocado - 1 (mashed)
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Tomato - 1 (sliced)

Steps

  1. Peel and cube the sweet potato, then boil in salted water for about 15 minutes or until tender. Drain and let cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked sweet potato and chickpeas together until combined but still slightly chunky.
  3. Add the oats, red onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  4. Form the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are compact and hold together.
  5. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns lightly.
  7. Spread the mashed avocado on each bun, then layer with lettuce, the sweet potato patty, and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Burger de Patate Douce!
