- Ground lean turkey or chicken - 250 grams
- Goat cheese - 100 grams
- Leafy greens (arugula or spinach) - 50 grams
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Fresh herbs (thyme and basil) - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Balsamic vinegar - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken with minced garlic, salt, pepper, and chopped herbs. Form the mixture into two patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and golden brown.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the herb spread by mixing goat cheese with balsamic vinegar in a small bowl until smooth.
- Once the patties are done, remove them from the heat and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly in the same skillet or in a toaster.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading the herb goat cheese on the bottom half of each bun, adding a leafy green layer, followed by the cooked patty, slices of tomato, and red onion.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
