Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Brie cheese - 100 grams
  • Fresh thyme - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon
  • Large lettuce leaves (e.g., butter lettuce) - 4 leaves
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Dijon mustard - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, chopped thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, place slices of brie cheese on top of each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and red onion slices.
  6. Once the cheese has melted, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.
  7. To assemble, place a beef patty on a lettuce leaf, add a slice of tomato, a few onion rings, and a dollop of Dijon mustard. Top with another lettuce leaf to create a 'burger'.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Burger Breton!
