Ingredients

  • Lean ground beef - 250 grams
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Comté cheese (or Gruyère) - 60 grams, sliced
  • Fresh spinach - 50 grams
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper, mix well, and shape into two patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  3. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Comté cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  4. While the patties cook, lightly toast the whole grain burger buns in a separate pan or in the oven.
  5. Assemble the burgers by spreading Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each bun, then add a layer of fresh spinach, the cheeseburger patty, sliced tomato, and red onion.
  6. Top with the other half of the bun, serve immediately, and enjoy your Burger au Fromage!
