Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • sugar - 30 grams
  • salt - 5 grams
  • milk - 100 ml
  • unsalted butter - 50 grams, melted
  • eggs - 2 large
  • vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • orange zest - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, warm the milk slightly and dissolve the active dry yeast in it. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  3. Mix the ingredients until a dough starts to form, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  6. After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a ball. Place it in a greased 20 cm round cake pan.
  7. Cover the pan with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
