- whole wheat flour - 150 grams
- all-purpose flour - 50 grams
- active dry yeast - 7 grams
- honey - 30 grams
- milk (warm) - 100 ml
- unsalted butter (melted) - 30 grams
- eggs - 1 large
- vanilla extract - 5 ml
- salt - 3 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, honey, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or individual rolls.
- Place the shaped dough in a greased baking pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Let it rise again for about 30 minutes, then bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
