  • Cremini mushrooms - 300 grams

  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Beef broth - 120 ml
  • Red wine (dry) - 60 ml
  • Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Clean the cremini mushrooms with a damp cloth and slice them in half if they are large.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Add the shallot and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  7. Add the beef broth, chopped thyme, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper.
  8. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens and the mushrooms absorb the flavors.
  9. Remove the bay leaf and serve warm, garnished with additional fresh thyme if desired.
