Ingredients
- Ground beef (80% lean) - 400 grams
- Bordeaux red wine - 60 ml
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Onion, thinly sliced - 1 medium
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Dijon mustard - 1 teaspoon
- Burger buns (kosher) - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato, sliced - 1 medium
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Bordeaux red wine, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined and form into two patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sugar, cooking for about 10-12 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally.
- While the onions are caramelizing, heat a grill or another skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until cooked to your liking.
- In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and chopped parsley to create the herbed aioli.
- Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading herbed aioli on the bottom half of each bun. Add a lettuce leaf, followed by the beef patty, caramelized onions, and a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
