Ingredients
- lean ground beef - 300 grams
- Bordeaux red wine - 50 ml
- fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon, chopped
- garlic - 1 clove, minced
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- whole wheat burger buns - 2
- goat cheese - 50 grams
- shallots - 2, thinly sliced
- olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- mixed salad greens - 50 grams
- balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, Bordeaux wine, chopped thyme, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and form into 2 patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, heat the olive oil in another pan over medium heat. Add the sliced shallots and sauté until golden brown and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
- In the last minute of cooking the patties, place the goat cheese on top of each patty to allow it to melt slightly.
- Toast the whole wheat buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the bottom half of each bun, topping with caramelized shallots and mixed salad greens, and drizzling with balsamic vinegar before placing the top bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of side.
