Baeckeoffe is a comforting Alsatian dish that combines marinated meats and vegetables, slowly baked to perfection. This Halal version offers a delightful blend of flavors, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients
- Lamb shoulder, cubed - 150 grams
- Chicken thigh, cubed - 150 grams
- Potatoes, peeled and sliced - 200 grams
- Carrots, peeled and sliced - 100 grams
- Onion, chopped - 1 medium
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Leek, sliced - 1 small
- Fresh thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaf - 1
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- White wine (Halal) - 100 ml
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable broth - 150 ml
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine lamb and chicken with salt, pepper, thyme, garlic, and white wine. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a large casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Add the marinated meats on top of the potatoes, followed by the onions, leeks, and carrots.
- Top with the remaining potato slices and bay leaf. Drizzle olive oil over the top.
- Pour vegetable broth evenly over the layers.
- Cover the casserole dish with a lid or aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 90 minutes.
- Remove the lid for the last 15 minutes to allow the top to brown slightly.
- Once done, let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
