Ingredients

  • Kosher ground beef - 300 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sauerkraut - 150 grams, drained
  • Emmental cheese - 2 slices
  • Burger buns - 2, preferably brioche
  • Mustard - 2 teaspoons
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Emmental cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns in a separate pan or under a broiler until golden brown.
  6. Spread 1 teaspoon of mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place a cheesy beef patty on top.
  7. Top each patty with a generous portion of drained sauerkraut and garnish with chopped parsley.
  8. Close the burgers with the top half of the buns, serve immediately, and enjoy!
