Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring continuously until it forms a smooth dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a small ball.
  4. Flatten each ball into a disc and place about 1 tablespoon of red bean paste in the center.
  5. Fold the edges of the disc over the filling and pinch to seal, reshaping into a ball.
  6. In a pot, bring water to a boil and carefully drop the rice balls into the boiling water.
  7. Boil the rice balls for about 10 minutes or until they float to the surface, indicating they are cooked.
  8. Use a slotted spoon to remove the rice balls and place them on a plate.
  9. In a small pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat and toast the sesame seeds until golden.
  10. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds over the rice balls before serving.
