Ingredients

  • Fresh white fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 300 grams
  • Fresh ginger - 10 grams, thinly sliced
  • Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 30 ml
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Rice wine (Shaoxing wine) - 10 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare the fish by patting it dry with paper towels and placing it in a shallow dish.
  2. Sprinkle salt and black pepper evenly over the fish fillets.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice wine. Pour this mixture over the fish fillets.
  4. Top the fish with sliced ginger and chopped spring onions.
  5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil to retain moisture.
  6. Set up a steamer pot with boiling water. Place the dish with the fish into the steamer basket and cover.
  7. Steam the fish for about 10-12 minutes or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Once cooked, carefully remove the dish from the steamer and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
