Ingredients

  • Ground pork - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Coconut aminos - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Butter lettuce - 4 large leaves
  • Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1 small, shredded
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, coconut aminos, sesame oil, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked and have a golden-brown crust.
  4. While the patties cook, prepare the lettuce wraps by rinsing the butter lettuce leaves and patting them dry.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing each patty inside a lettuce leaf. Top with sliced cucumber, shredded carrot, and fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your Paleo Chinese burger!
