Ingredients

  • Jasmine rice - 150 grams

  • Peas - 50 grams (fresh or frozen)
  • Mushrooms - 50 grams, sliced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then drain.
  2. In a bowl, combine the rinsed rice, water, diced carrot, peas, sliced mushrooms, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Mix the ingredients well and let them soak for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a heat-proof dish that fits into your steamer.
  5. Fill the steamer with water and bring it to a boil, then place the dish with the rice mixture into the steamer.
  6. Cover and steam for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
