- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground halal beef or lamb - 150 grams
- Chopped green onions - 50 grams
- Grated carrot - 50 grams
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger (minced) - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add warm water until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground beef or lamb, chopped green onions, grated carrot, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper until well combined.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 15 cm in diameter.
- Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook each filled pastry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Once cooked, place the Yuan Yang Bing on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes to ensure the filling is fully cooked.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional chopped green onions or a dipping sauce of your choice.
