Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground halal beef or lamb - 150 grams
  • Chopped green onions - 50 grams
  • Grated carrot - 50 grams
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger (minced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add warm water until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth, then cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the ground beef or lamb, chopped green onions, grated carrot, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 15 cm in diameter.
  4. Place a generous spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook each filled pastry for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once cooked, place the Yuan Yang Bing on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes to ensure the filling is fully cooked.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with additional chopped green onions or a dipping sauce of your choice.
