Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
  • Black bean sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic, minced - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions, sliced - 2 tablespoons
  • Red bell pepper, thinly sliced - 1/2 medium
  • Cilantro, chopped - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. 1. Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. 2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the ginger and garlic, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. 3. Place the fish fillets in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4. In the same skillet, add the black bean sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir well and heat until it begins to simmer.
  5. 5. Add the red bell pepper and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
  6. 6. Return the fish to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to warm the fish through and meld the flavors.
  7. 7. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and chopped cilantro before serving.
