Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 150 grams
  • Water - 75 ml
  • Ground Halal beef - 150 grams
  • Ground Halal pork - 100 grams
  • Ginger - 10 grams, minced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • White pepper - 1 gram
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Chicken broth - 100 ml (preferably Halal)
  • Green onions - 1 stalk, finely chopped

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water, mixing until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the ground Halal beef, ground Halal pork, minced ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, salt, and chopped green onions until well combined.
  3. In a small saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Once boiling, let it simmer for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool slightly, then incorporate 50 ml of the broth into the meat mixture, mixing until combined. Reserve the remaining broth for serving.
  4. After the dough has rested, divide it into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball into a thin circle, about 8-10 cm in diameter.
  5. Place about 1 tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Carefully gather the edges of the dough and pleat them together to form a pouch, sealing the filling inside. Ensure there are no gaps.
  6. Prepare a steamer lined with parchment paper and arrange the dumplings inside, leaving space between each.
  7. Steam the dumplings over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
  8. Serve hot with the reserved chicken broth and a side of soy sauce or vinegar for dipping.
