Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 150 grams
- Water - 75 ml
- Ground Halal beef - 150 grams
- Ground Halal pork - 100 grams
- Ginger - 10 grams, minced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- White pepper - 1 gram
- Salt - 3 grams
- Chicken broth - 100 ml (preferably Halal)
- Green onions - 1 stalk, finely chopped
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water, mixing until a rough dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix together the ground Halal beef, ground Halal pork, minced ginger, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, salt, and chopped green onions until well combined.
- In a small saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Once boiling, let it simmer for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool slightly, then incorporate 50 ml of the broth into the meat mixture, mixing until combined. Reserve the remaining broth for serving.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball into a thin circle, about 8-10 cm in diameter.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Carefully gather the edges of the dough and pleat them together to form a pouch, sealing the filling inside. Ensure there are no gaps.
- Prepare a steamer lined with parchment paper and arrange the dumplings inside, leaving space between each.
- Steam the dumplings over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve hot with the reserved chicken broth and a side of soy sauce or vinegar for dipping.
