Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour - 150 grams
- Warm water - 75 ml
- Ground lean pork - 200 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced (for garnish)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and warm water. Knead until a smooth dough forms, then cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped spring onions, soy sauce, five-spice powder, salt, black pepper, and sesame oil until well combined.
- Divide the rested dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a flat disc about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of each dough disc, fold the edges over the filling, and pinch to seal. Gently flatten the filled buns.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it. Place the buns in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Add a splash of water to the skillet, cover immediately, and steam the buns for an additional 5 minutes to ensure the meat is cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet, garnish with cucumber slices, and serve warm.
