- Star anise - 1 whole
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lettuce leaves (Butter or Romaine) - 4 large leaves
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Green onion - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Chili oil (optional) - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, star anise, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the pork mixture, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
- Remove the star anise and discard. Stir in chopped cilantro and green onion, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
- Prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry.
- To assemble, spoon the cooked pork mixture into the center of each lettuce leaf. Drizzle with chili oil if desired.
- Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy as a Paleo-friendly burger.
