Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers - 12 pieces
  • Ground chicken - 150 grams
  • Chopped scallions - 2 tablespoons
  • Minced garlic - 1 clove
  • Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cabbage (finely chopped) - 50 grams
  • Carrot (grated) - 1 small
  • Cooking oil - for frying (if desired)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped scallions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, pepper, finely chopped cabbage, and grated carrot. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface and spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling into the center of the wrapper.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water, fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle, and press to seal. Then, bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal, forming a wonton shape. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. To cook the wontons, bring a pot of water to a gentle boil. Carefully drop in the wontons and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface, indicating they are done.
  5. If you prefer them pan-fried, heat a skillet with a little oil over medium heat, add the wontons, and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve the wontons hot with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce and a splash of vinegar if desired.
