Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Wonton wrappers - 6 pieces
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Beef broth - 500 ml
  • Cabbage - 50 grams, finely shredded
  • Carrot - 1 small, julienned
  • Cilantro - a handful, for garnish
  • Chili oil - for drizzle (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Form the beef mixture into 2 equal patties.
  3. In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the shredded cabbage and julienned carrot to the broth and cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  6. While the broth is simmering, prepare the wonton wrappers by placing a small spoonful of remaining beef mixture into the center of each wrapper. Fold and seal the wrappers, creating a small pouch.
  7. Gently drop the wontons into the simmering broth and cook for about 5 minutes until they float to the top.
  8. To serve, place one beef patty in a bowl, add some vegetables and wontons from the broth, and ladle the hot broth over the top. Garnish with cilantro and a drizzle of chili oil if desired.
