Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, grated
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chopped shiitake mushrooms, grated carrot, chopped cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the filling.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and press the edges to seal. For a decorative touch, you can fold the two corners of the triangle inwards and pinch them to secure.
  3. Repeat the process until all the filling is used. You can keep the assembled wontons covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Carefully add the wontons in batches, frying until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove the wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
