  • Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Cucumber - 1 small, julienned

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into thin, duck-like slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  3. Marinate the tofu slices in the sauce for at least 10 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coverage.
  4. Coat the marinated tofu slices lightly with cornstarch for a crispy texture.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the tofu slices for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  6. Warm the Peking pancakes in a steamer or microwave until soft.
  7. To serve, place the crispy tofu on a pancake, add some julienned cucumber and spring onions, drizzle with extra hoisin sauce, and wrap it up to enjoy.
