  • Fresh ginger - 2 tablespoons, finely minced
  • Scallions - 4, finely sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced ginger, garlic, and half of the scallions. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the fried tofu back to the skillet, followed by soy sauce, sesame oil, and water. Stir gently to combine and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with the remaining scallions before serving.
