Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Warm water - 150 milliliters
  • Salt - 2 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 10 milliliters
  • Cabbage - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 50 grams, grated
  • Mushrooms - 50 grams, chopped
  • Spring onion - 30 grams, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 5 grams, grated
  • Soy sauce - 10 milliliters
  • Sesame oil - 5 milliliters

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil. Mix to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a pan, heat a little oil and sauté ginger, followed by cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, and spring onion for about 5-7 minutes until softened. Add soy sauce and sesame oil, mix well, and let it cool.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
  6. Place a spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each circle. Gather the edges and pinch them together to seal the bun.
  7. Place the buns on parchment paper squares and let them rest for another 15 minutes.
  8. Steam the buns in a steamer for about 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through. Serve warm.
