Ingredients

  • Pizza dough - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Miso paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Firm tofu - 150 grams, crumbled
  • Peanut butter - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon (optional, for thickening)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a pan, heat the sesame oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant.
  3. Add the crumbled tofu to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes until heated through.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, miso paste, peanut butter, and black pepper, mixing thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  5. If you prefer a thicker sauce, dissolve the cornstarch in a tablespoon of water and stir it into the mixture, cooking until thickened.
  6. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and place it on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  7. Spread the tofu Zha Jiang mixture evenly over the pizza base.
  8. Top with julienned carrots and cucumbers, and sprinkle chopped green onions over the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Once done, remove from the oven and garnish with fresh cilantro before slicing and serving.
