Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
  • Firm tofu - 200 grams, crumbled
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, finely chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, grated
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon (for sealing)
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled tofu, chopped shiitake mushrooms, grated carrot, green onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle, and press to seal. Then, bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal completely. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the wontons (in batches if necessary) and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the wontons and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve hot with a soy dipping sauce or your preferred sauce.
