Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Granulated sugar - 30 grams
- Warm water - 100 milliliters
- Vegetable oil - 15 milliliters
- Salt - 1 gram
- Red bean paste - 100 grams
- Cornstarch - for dusting
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and 5 grams of sugar in warm water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and let them rest for 10 minutes.
- Flatten each ball into a disc, place about 25 grams of red bean paste in the center, and fold the edges over to seal the filling inside. Shape into a bun.
- Place the buns on a parchment-lined baking tray, cover, and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the buns for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
