Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, minced - 1 tablespoon
  • Red bell pepper, sliced - 1 medium
  • Green onions, chopped - 2
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable broth - 100 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the sliced red bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, Sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and vegetable broth.
  7. Return the tofu to the skillet, pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables, and stir gently to combine. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
