- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 tablespoon
- Red bell pepper, sliced - 1 medium
- Green onions, chopped - 2
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sriracha - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable broth - 100 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the minced garlic and ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced red bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, Sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and vegetable broth.
- Return the tofu to the skillet, pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables, and stir gently to combine. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
